Why "What We Keep - A Sacred Objects Share" May Be the Very Place You Need to Be.

It comes at unanticipated moments, stealing

your breath and hightening your humanity.

  • A scent drifts past you—so faint you almost miss it—and suddenly, they’re there.

  • A flash of color catches your eye and steals your breath. It’s the same shade as her favorite sweater—the one she wore on that impossibly perfect day in October.

  • You open a drawer and find them again: the mismatched collection of salt and pepper shakers you never quite understood… until now, when letting them go feels unthinkable.

  • And then there’s the letter. Soft at the folds. Nearly translucent with time. You’ve read it a hundred times, maybe more—each word a quiet ache for a past that didn’t stay long enough to become a future.

We all have these things.

The objects we keep… and the stories they refuse to let us forget.

What we hold onto is rarely just an object. It’s a moment. A relationship. A piece of ourselves we’re not ready to set down. And yet, we don’t often have spaces where these stories can be spoken out loud—where something as simple as a sweater, a letter, or a small, curious collection can be honored for the meaning it carries.

“What We Keep” is a free, community gathering created for exactly that. A space to bring an object that matters to you—whether its story is tender, joyful, complicated, or unfinished—and, if you feel called, to share the story it holds. No pressure. No performance. Just a room of people willing to listen, reflect, and witness the quiet weight and beauty of what we carry.

Join us for “What We Keep,” a free community gathering rooted in story, memory, and connection. Bring an object if you’d like—or simply bring yourself. There is nothing you need to prepare, and nothing expected of you beyond your presence.

We’ll gather at Anne Arundel Public Library -

EDGEWATER, MD on Monday, May 18 at 6:00 PM.

Because sometimes, the simple act of sharing what we carry—out loud, in the company of others—can soften its weight in ways we don’t expect.

I hope to see you there.
